Because He Has A Good Moral Compass
Several years ago, I created a quiz for people who are interested in pursuing franchise business ownership.
It’s what I call a franchise compatibility quiz.
The questions I pose on my quiz are designed to flush out things that would make owning a franchise a less than favorable idea for the person taking it.
For example, the franchise business model is quite rigid. It’s not for people who like to make their own rules. It’s why a McDonald’s franchise in Mansfield, Ohio looks, feels, and smells exactly like a McDonald's in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
It’s why when you need your house cleaned and you call Molly Maids, the employees who do your cleaning all wear pink polo’s with the Molly Maid logo on them. (Their uniforms)
“So, Franchise King, what do the things you just mentioned (while they’re semi-interesting) have to do with some dude who has a good moral compass?”
Patience, my friend. Patience.
A Question From My Free Franchise Quiz
My quiz contains 20 different questions. Here’s one of them:
“Why do you feel a franchise company would want to award you a franchise? Please explain in one or two sentences.”
Pretty straightforward, right?
Here’s a brief sampling of answers to that question from some of the now 5,700 would-be franchise owners who have taken my quiz over the last 7+ years.
P.S. I score each quiz by hand, as I refuse to use a “software solution” to speed things up. That’s because buying a franchise is a big deal. People interested in being their own bosses need to take a hard look at themselves. I help them do just that by personally scoring each franchise quiz.
Some Of The Answers I Get
Again, the question I’m focusing on today is this one:
“Why do you feel a franchise company would want to award you a franchise? Please explain in one or two sentences.”
“Because I have enough money.”
“Because I’ve run businesses before, and I know what it takes to be successful.”
“Because I appreciate good systems-and I want to follow one instead of inventing something myself.”
“Because you’ll make money off me.”
“My brother-in-law owns a franchise and he thinks I’d be good at it.”
“Because it would be a win-win. I am loyal and professional, and you’re looking for good people to own your franchises.”
By and large, those are pretty good answers.
But none of them are as good as the one I received today from a gentleman who’s obviously very interested in becoming the owner of a franchise business.
“I think a franchisor would be happy to have me be part of there team because I am a driven person, good team player with a good moral compass.”
I’ve never read an answer quite like that.
