I’ve Had Enough Of These People On LinkedIn
I’ve had it. I can’t take it anymore.
This stuff is killing people.
Why is it happening?
What the hell happened to us?
Anyone?
Be Gone!
It needs to stop.
But how?
Is there anything you can do to stop the lies? The disinformation? The propaganda?
Maybe.
Given that, I can only tell you what I’m doing.
Some People In My LinkedIn Network Are Spreading Lies And Propaganda
You know who you are.
“ I am not going to get vaccinated, because I’m super-healthy and I know can fight this virus.”
The guy who wrote that was the first person in my network I unlinked. Why?
Because doing that…believing you could somehow fight-off Covid-19 yourself, will get people sick. Heck, it could kill them. I have no need for someone in my “ network” who’s that selfish. Buh-Bye.
Next on the hit parade is a guy I politely went back and forth with about encouraging franchisees to require their employees to be vaccinated as a condition of their employment. But it wasn’t the back and forth.
It was him lying about what CNN has been doing.
Specifically, he told me that “ CNN was the network that’s spreading disinformation.” Really?
Here’s what I wanted to tell him, but didn’t:
“ You mean the part where CNN kept reporting on how bad Covid-19 was?”
“ Or reporting on Trump how bad it the virus was (2 months in), but lied about it: ‘When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done,’ but didn’t want anything negative to affect his chances of being elected to a 2nd term?”
That darn CNN!
“ Or sharing factual data about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines, and having real scientists and medical doctors talk about it?”
Give me a break.
I decided then and there ( a day later, actually) that:
A. I was going to unlink him.
B. I wasn’t going to participate in any more discussions about the virus or the vaccine.
Why?
Because it’s not worth it anymore.
As a matter of fact, I won’t discuss Covid-19 or the vaccines with anyone who believes* the conspiracy theories and/or doesn’t trust science. I don’t have the energy. But I used to. I just can’t anymore. Not with people who get their “ information” from clickbait-styled propaganda websites that were put together in a week. Or from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, OAN, Fox and/or Newsmax.
*I won’t support people who start conspiracy theories either. I’m referring to the people who are doing it with their new books, speeches, and or internet rants.
That said, is CNN perfect? Heck no.
Is MSNBC always right? No.
But those networks aren’t paying their talking heads millions of dollars a year to purposely tell lies and spread disinformation.
One more thing.
My dad always told me that I tend to see things in black and white.
Guilty!
Especially now.
It’s Not Worth It Anymore
I just gave you two specific examples of people in my LinkedIn network who aren’t helping. There are more, but you get the point. There’s something else, though.
I’ve also decided to disassociate myself with anyone who:
- Still thinks Trump won the election
- Supports the January 6th Insurrection
- Gets 90% or more of their information from Fox “News” Example: “Since Jan. 6, Fox has made shameful attempts to rewrite history. It tried claiming the rioters were Antifa, or called the insurrection a ‘peaceful protest,’ and claimed the FBI orchestrated the assault on the Capitol.”
- Is racist
- Don’t think women should make as much money as men
- Are Anti-gay
- Are anti-vaxxers
So what will you do?
Will you unlink people with extreme views?
Will you unlink people in your network who clearly believe the lies?
And most importantly, will you continue to do business with them?
I won’t.
