They’re In Too Deep
In their minds, the anti-truth Republican members of Congress and the Senate have no place to go. Let me tell you why.
Egos.
Their egos won’t allow them to admit they were-and are wrong about Trump “winning” the 2020 Presidential Election. And because of that, the biggest fraud in American History continues to metastasize through our democracy.
When Did Admitting You Were Wrong Become A Weakness?
I have a theory. And it started with Trump. Actually his father and Roy Cohn.
Both of them told him that admitting you’re wrong is a sign of weakness. And to never admit defeat. They’re actually the ones who are wrong.
Because in my experience, admitting when you’re wrong is freeing.
It frees up head space. It allows your neurons to be used for new things. Better things. Positive things.
How do I know?
Because when I’m wrong I admit it.
Not because I’m a saint.
I admit my errors because it’s the right thing to do. And it’s not a sign of weakness.

One more thing. I wish some of my friends would admit they were wrong about Trump and the election.
But they won’t, and it’s one of the reasons I left Facebook. It’s too aggravating to be on that platform.
Is It Really About Money And Power?
It must be.
What else would explain the fact that folks like Kevin McCarthy, Lindsay Graham, Ron Johnson, and others who I refuse to name, follow whatever Trump says and tells them to do. It’s as if they were members of some crazy-ass cult!
I guess free parking (unless they’re using their personal drivers), free meals courtesy of everyone who pays taxes, free security personnel as needed, free travel, gifts from lobbyists that us common folk will never learn about, free television exposure, and salaries of $174,000 on up are the reasons. There’s more.
Finally, the “Members’ Representational Allowance” is the budget authorized by the Committee on House Administration for each Member of Congress in support of the conduct of official and representational duties to the district from which elected. For Legislative Year 2016, for example, the MRA ranged from $1.17–1.80 million. Must be nice.
They Can’t Do It
If they were to admit they knew the Big Lie was…well…a big lie, now, what would happen to them?
Would Trump yell at them?
Would he stop helping their campaigns?
Does it matter?
I say it doesn’t.
What does matter is keeping the United States of America a democracy. It’s way more delicate than we thought.
Finally, Liz Cheney said her party has a “particular duty” to not only reject the events of Jan. 6, but “to make sure that Donald Trump is not our nominee, and that he’s never anywhere close to the reins of power ever again.”
