Why This YMYL Headline is Dangerous To Your (Financial) Health

Clicking a YMYL (your money or your life) headline like this is dangerous to your financial health. What headline Joel?

“Wellness Franchise With Revenue 3x The Investment”

But why is that headline potentially dangerous to your financial health?

Because you may or may not make “3x your investment.”

My guess? You probably won’t make 3 times your original investment. Why?

Because the franchise opportunity this dude who presented this headline in an email (as the subject line), has been offering franchises since 2013, and only had 20 franchises operating when these figures were calculated.

Well “maybe” calculated…as there’s no (required) earnings disclaimer. And that’s a red flag for me, and for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

People! Don’t get sucked in by supposed franchise “experts,” who have consciously made the decision to tempt you into thinking that YOU will bring in the same “average revenue” that other franchisees have by simply using words in their copy designed to get you to open their emails.

Instead, you need to do your own research. You need to talk to lots of existing franchisees of the brand you’re considering.

And don’t be afraid to report these sleazy marketing tactics to the FTC.

Because they want to know about people in franchising who aren’t properly disclosing franchise #financials.

Finally, when you’re looking at franchises that reveal some of their “average franchisee revenue” numbers or something similar, it’s totally natural for you to think you’ll at least equal those numbers. Or do better! Be careful.

Because what if you don’t?
